About Blake Sand & Gravel

In 1953 Charles and Margaret Blake started their company on Cays Road in Sequim, selling ready-mix concrete, sand and gravel.  The special brand of personal service that this family owned business offered enabled the company to grow rapidly in the local community.

The Blake’s sons, Charlie, David and Jamie took over the reins in 1980.  Charlie passed away in 1984 and Charles in 1986.  Jill, Dave’s wife, took over the bookkeeping duties from Margaret in 1984.  Respected by their clients, Blake Sand & Gravel grew, and in 1989, purchased Angeles Gravel and Supply in Port Angeles which added masonry and construction materials into its inventory.  The opportunity to expand came again in 1992 with the addition of another Sequim location on Blake Avenue where landscape supplies and tile were included in the products provided. At that time, professional designers became an important part of the staff.  In 1995, Dave’s daughter, Casey, became the third generation to join the family team. In 2002, the Blake Family sold the ready-mix concrete, sand and gravel operation on Cays Road to Fred Hill Materials of Poulsbo.

The family traditions of hands-on participation are as important today as they were over fifty years ago and there is always a Blake family member willing to provide you with their local expert knowledge.
